Live-stream selling has been gaining momentum in Hong Kong over the last two years, driven by the booming online sales during lockdowns. People from different sectors and individuals have flocked to the online streaming industry for a slice of the pie. In view of the varied quality of the presenters and the programmes due to the lack of industry regulations, the Greater China Wemedia Association, Hong Kong, has advocated for a united front to transform the live-streaming sales industry into a regulated, fair and professional business. A launching ceremony of such was held yesterday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai.
According to Chois Choi, chairman of the Greater China Wemedia Association, the advocation of developing a live-streaming industry aims to enhance the quality of the business, establish the professionalism in live-streaming, and safeguard industry protection.
Co-hosted by the Hongkong Live Business Association, the event was heavily attended by representatives from the government, industry organisations, artists and key opinion leaders. It has garnered support from over 20 establishments in town, including Hong Kong Jewellery.
