To mark the milestone for the release of Sapphire and the completion of a trilogy of books, Gemfields has collaborated with Jewel of Africa to roll out a pendant.
The pendant is crafted in 18-karat yellow gold. Its African continent shaped outline mounted a 0.20-carat Zambian emerald, a 0.12-carat Mozambican ruby and a 0.12-carat sapphire. Limited at 100 pieces, it will be available online via The Alkemistry supporting the construction of a new computer training laboratory for children and adults displaced by the insurgency in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province.
The book series sponsored by Gemfields kicked off with Emerald: Twenty-one Centuries of Jeweled Opulence and Power in 2013, followed by Ruby: The King of Gems released in 2017 and will conclude with Sapphire in the end of September. Each takes the author Joanna Hardy around two to three years including field trips. Hardy said: “What a journey it has been… It’s incredible to think I have been to Mozambique, Madagascar, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Colombia to research my books.”
