Christie’s Hong Kong is staging its Magnificent Jewels sale on 26 May where the Ethereal Jadeite Necklace is believed to be in the limelight. It is the most valuable Fei Cui jewellery to appear on the market over the past 10 years, the auction house says.
Set with a yellow-diamond gold clasp, the magnificent necklace comprises 61 natural Burmese Fei Cui (jadeite) beads measuring approximately 13.7 to 8.8 mm. The Fei Cui cabochon on the clasp is around 11.7 x 15.0 x 7.1 mm. Tested by the Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory, the stones are of vivid-green colour with glassy translucency. The rare item carries an estimate between HK$110 million and HK$200 million.
Chairman of jewellery at Christie’s Asia Pacific, Vickie Sek, says: “We are honored to present the Ethereal Jadeite Necklace, the most valuable jadeite jewel Christie’s has ever offered, as the standout highlight of this sale at a moment that marks our 40th anniversary in Asia.”
“Jadeite bead necklaces have long been treasured for their cultural significance and enduring appeal, and this exceptional jewel reflects not only the pinnacle of jadeite craftsmanship, but also Christie’s long‑standing commitment to connoisseurship, trust, and the stewardship of truly important works,” she adds.
