Instore, a media company for the jewellery sector, has formally acquired the JA New York trade shows from Emerald Holding. The acquisition signifies a major consolidation within the industry, bringing a historic event brand under the stewardship of an organisation renowned for its deep editorial roots and connections with independent retailers and suppliers.
The JA New York shows, long regarded as an effective marketplace for the American jewellery trade, will now be revitalised under Instore’s leadership. The publisher, Matthijs Braakman, emphasised that the core mission remains service to the industry: "JA New York exists to serve this industry, and everything we do will be built around that purpose. Our commitment is to create an event where independent retailers find real answers, suppliers find real connections, and the entire jewellery community leaves stronger than when they arrived."
A key aspect of the transition is the integration of seasoned JA New York veteran Tobi Smith into the Instore team as account executive. With over 30 years of experience, Smith's return adds continuity and passion to the project. Instore plans to fundamentally reimagine the shows, moving beyond a traditional marketplace model.
Trace Shelton, editor-in-chief of Instore, noted the opportunity to bring the brand's dynamic ethos to New York City. The acquisition concludes Instore's own standalone event productions, allowing full focus on restoring JA New York's spring and autumn editions to their former prominence as essential industry gatherings. Further details regarding dates, programming, and exhibitor opportunities are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. (Photo courtesy: Instore)
