Dubai’s total diamond trade reached an historic high of US$41.7 billion in 2025, according to the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). The milestone, fuelled by robust demand for natural stones, represents a 16.2-percent year-on-year increase, adding US$5.8 billion to the emirate's trade in just 12 months.
Crucially, the volume of diamonds passing through Dubai also climbed to 359.5 million carats—a 42.5-percent rise from the previous year. This marks the first time the global trade hub has registered record highs in both value and physical volume simultaneously, surpassing its previous financial record set in 2011.
Natural diamonds remained the bedrock of Dubai's market, representing 95.8 percent of the total trade value at US$39.9 billion. Polished natural diamonds saw an impressive 25 percent y-o-y increase, reaching US$18.7 billion. Meanwhile, the region’s broader precious stones ecosystem continued to diversify, with coloured gemstones posting an all-time high of US$1.1 billion, up 48 percent from 2024.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman of DMCC, attributed the success to a long-term strategy designed to build a highly connected and transparent marketplace. Since the pandemic in 2020, trade through the emirate has more than doubled in volume and surged nearly 140 percent in value, cementing Dubai's position as a dominant gateway connecting global miners, manufacturers, and consumer markets.
