Prices for natural fancy-coloured diamonds remained largely stable in the second quarter of 2026, with solid gains in pink diamonds effectively balancing mild pullbacks in blue and yellow categories.
According to the latest Fancy Color Diamond Index published by the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF), overall prices dipped by a negligible 0.1 percent between April and June, leaving the index virtually flat. On a year-on-year basis, prices dropped by 0.5 percent.
Pink diamonds spearheaded the market performance with a quarterly rise of 0.1 percent, reversing a decline seen in the previous quarter. Growth was broadly observed across medium sizes, with two-carat and three-carat pink stones advancing 0.6 percent, while fancy vivid pinks led color-intensity grades with a 0.5 percent increase.
Conversely, blue and yellow diamonds slid by 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent respectively, although select segments like one-carat blues (+0.7 percent) and three-carat yellows (+0.7 percent) demonstrated notable strength. Overall, fancy vivid stones outperformed other grades, edging up 0.2 percent.
The FCRF emphasised that the results reflect a highly resilient and well-anchored market characterized by selective, grade-specific pricing adjustments rather than a broader directional shift. Industry experts note that the findings underscore natural fancy-coloured diamonds’ enduring appeal as rare, stable inventory assets for luxury retailers amid broader market fluctuations.
