Chow Sang Sang forecasts surge in half-year profit

Hong Kong jeweller Chow Sang Sang has issued a profit warning in reverse, forecasting a dramatic surge in its first-half earnings for 2026.

In a statement released to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the group announced that net profit attributable to equity holders from continuing operations is expected to range between HK$ 2.1 billion and HK$2.2 billion for the six months ended 30 June. This marks more than a twofold increase compared to the HK$910 million reported during the same period in 2025.

Management attributed the sharp growth primarily to robust retail sales performance across key regional markets. Financial strategy also played a crucial role: a mark-to-market revaluation of bullion loans yielded significant unrealised gains, reversing the unrealised losses recorded in the previous year.

The figures reflect preliminary estimates from management accounts, which have not yet been audited or reviewed by the audit committee. Finalised interim results are scheduled for publication on 26 August 2026.
