Hong Kong’s eco-chic jewellery brand niin has launched its spring/summer 2015 Zayah Collection featuring recycled natural materials. A press presentation and a following VIP launch were held yesterday at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery, Central.
‘Zayah’, according to niin, is a traditional Tibetan girl’s name depicting mystery and creativity, the attributes of independent women of self-confidence and vitality. Inspired by the beauty of transformation, Zayah Collection explores the contrasts of the natural world and the breathtaking majesty they create. “The untamed, dynamic energy of the earth is personified in one of history’s most iconic woman, Cleopatra. Her mystique and independence have been immortalised through legend and literature and live on today in the creativity and strength of the modern woman,” said niin.
For the launch, brand founder Jeannie Hsu has commissioned local artist Tanya Bennett to make portraits of 10 creative local women (Cleopatra) of different professions wearing selected new pieces.
The portraits on display were hammered to raise funds for WWF-Hong Kong. Bennett also offered a special price for private commission work booked as a result of the event, with a percentage of sales joining the charitable donation.
Founded in 2005 and relocated to Hong Kong in 2008, niin is an untiring advocate of eco-jewellery and lifestyle. Since November 2014, it has operated a monobrand store in Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan.
