Japanese pearl giant Mikimoto launched the seventh boutique in Hong Kong at 1881 Heritage in January 2016.
The new store features a specially-designed ceiling inspired by Yaguruma Sash Clip, a distinctive Mikimoto style of the 1930s. The walls are made of different materials including Nishijimori, a woven Japanese traditional textile portraying the bright sea glimmering in sunlight, while the VIP room and the sales area are designed to the image of the nighttime sea and the daytime sea respectively.
To commemorate the new store opening, the brand has introduced a high jewellery collection featuring rare natural conch pearls mainly collected from the Caribbean Sea. The most popular colour of conch pearls is pink, while pink with an orange hue and pale violet red is also the connoisseurs’ favourite, according to Mikimoto.
