The fine jewels sale held by Sotheby’s New York on 10 June 2016 witnessed a strong competition for stylish jewellery by Cartier, David Webb, Tiffany & Co, Van Cleef & Arpels (VCA), etc. With a total of US$4.8 million, the auction provided an opportunity for those seeking the perfect piece to start a jewellery collection or complement an existing one, said the auction house. The sale offered a wide variety of treasures, from vintage to contemporary designs, from classic white diamonds to coloured gemstones.
Leading lots included a VCA platinum and diamond bracelet sold for US$243,750, a gold, platinum, enamel diamond and ruby bracelet from David Webb sold for US$75,000, a Tiffany & Co platinum ring set with a 4.02-carat fancy intense yellow diamond sold for US$52,500, etc.
Prior to the sale,Sotheby's New York had invited Moda Operandi to select seven pieces of jewellery from the sale to pair with seven outfits for a week in summer.
