The polished diamond price index saw a slight decline from 124.8 in early August to 123.5 by the end of the month, IDEX reported.
The average price drop in August 2016 marked a 6.3-percent year-on-year decrease, and a 0.8-percent month-to-month decline over July 2016. Polished diamond prices have shown stability and only minimal fluctuations since November. There was a slight increase between May and June, but the trend shows that August returned toward the May level, said the report.
Since January 2013, the polished diamond price shows a 6.8-percent decline to-date. IDEX says overall prices seem stable when taking into account that polished prices saw more volatility during 2015.
