Danish jeweller Max Danger has won the Goldsmiths’ Fair 2016 Best New Design Award for his Honey Bee Cluster ring (photo) set in gold, black rhodium with natural yellow diamonds.
“I’m absolutely thrilled. There are so many great designers here and Goldsmiths’ Fair is an amazing experience without shadow of a doubt. Winning the Best New Design Award is like the cherry on top,” said the London-based designer upon receiving his £1,000 prize and a bottle of champagne, according to organiser The Goldsmiths’ Company.
Zoe Arnold was named runner-up for her Mirror brooch/pendant, a piece constructed with zinc, oxidised silver, 18-karat gold and a shell. Scottish jeweller Andrew Lamb was runner-up for his Ishihara #1 brooch, made of 18-karat yellow and white gold.
Goldsmiths’ Fair, organised by The Goldsmiths’ Company, is recognised internationally as the premier showcase in the UK for contemporary designer jewellery and silver. The 2016 edition is being held from 27 September to 9 October. (Photo courtesy: The Goldsmiths’ Company)
