Christie’s HK sale realises HK$619mn

The magnificent jewels sale held by Christie’s Hong Kong on 30 May 2017 fetched a total of nearly HK$619 million (US$79.8 million) with Moussaieff’s blue diamond ring being the top lot. Highlighted jewellery from the four Asian designers was all sold for over HK$96 million.

The 3.98-carat VVS2 fancy vivid blue diamond ring designed by Moussaieff was sold to Harry Winston (photo 1) above the high estimate at nearly HK$68.9 million. A double-strand fei cui bead and diamond necklace achieved HK$55.4 million, making it the second highest bid of the sale.

The 10 lots contributed by four Asian designers namely Adrian Cheng, Cindy Chao, Edmond Chin and Michelle Ong were all sold for a total of HK$96 million. The Palmette emerald and diamond necklace designed by Chin for The House of Boghossian (photo 2) was sold for nearly HK$46.5 million, setting the world record of a Colombian no-oil natural emerald jewellery. Together with his another design, a ring set with a 3.37-carat fancy intense blue diamond for Suwa (photo 3) which realised HK$21.7 million, he owns two places in the top 10 lots.
