The Federated International GemLab SA (FIG) has recently launched in association with the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) offering gemstone identification reports to the world.
Located in Bangkok, private-owned FIG provides four gemstone testing reports namely identification report, origin report, special report, and monograph report.
For colour grading, FIG uses the trade terms of Pigeon Blood for ruby, Royal Blue and Cornflower for sapphire, and Muzo Green for emerald.
The new lab is headed by research manager Dr Dietmar Schwarz, a renowned gemologist and world-leading authority on emeralds, and senior gemologist Sonia Cherchi.
FIG says it does not provide diamond or pearl testing services. ICA members can enjoy a 10-percent discount.
The laboratory is located in Bangkok; the management work is conducted in the Geneva office. (Photo courtesy: FIG)
