Tiancheng International’s jewellery and jadeite autumn sale will be held on 3 December 2017 in Hong Kong. Among the over 250 lots totaling over HK$280 million (US$37 million), leading pieces include a Burmese ruby and diamond necklace and a natural fei cui bead necklace.
The Red Romance necklace (photo 1) set with diamonds and nearly 140 carats of 84 natural unheated Burmese rubies is considered one of the most important unheated ruby necklace to appear at auction over the past decade in terms of total weight, said the auction house. (Estimate: HK$58 million - $88 million)
An impressive strand made up of 49 pieces of fei cui beads (photo 2) in luxuriant green colour with exceptional translucency, substantial size and homogenous quality is believed to generate rounds of fierce bidding. (Estimate: HK$15 million – $25 million)
A pair of 14.54- and 13.12-carat natural unheated Mozambican ‘pigeon’s blood’ ruby earrings (photo 3) is believed to be very sought-after at the auction due to the remarkable sizes of the rubies as well as the popularity of rubies from Mozambique after the depletion of the Mogok mine. (Estimate: HK$38 million - $45 million)
Important jewellery from acclaimed jewellery houses including Harry Winston, Cartier and Bulgari are set to be the highlights of the sale.
