The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) launched a partnership with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, providing a platform for the diamond bourse to offer polished diamonds and diamond jewellery on directly from the source.
“You don’t need expansion or offices, or to fly over. You have hundreds of millions of potential customers,” said Yoram Dvash the president of the pioneer. Transactions on the Chinese online retail giant website generated revenue of 24.1 billion yuan along in the quarter 4 of 2017. The platform has operated on 6 February and 80 members are in operation.
Up to 150 IDE members will sell diamonds and jewellery on the site through this partnership. Buyers are guaranteed for the supply of natural, conflict-free and high quality diamonds.
The mode is similar to the cooperation between the IDE and the online diamond retailer James Allen. Bourse members supply items for the e-commencer to sell.
