Hong Kong jewellery bigname Chow Sang Sang reported a three-percent sales increase in 2017 on Tuesday, accomplished by an improved consumer sentiment.
Jewellery revenue grew three percent to HK$14.5 billion while two over three of the revenue (HK$8 billion) is from mainland China, grew nine percent year-on-year (yoy). Online commerce accounted for 14 percent of the sales. Hong Kong and Macau sales dipped three percent due to shop closures, according to the jeweller. However, Hong Kong remains competitive as Chinese yuan strengthened against Hong Kong dollar, with reference to the uptick number of mainland China visitors in 2017, increased 3.9 percent compared to 2016.
