Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Tourism and Sports launch “Buy With Confidence” (BWC) program to spur jewellers on quality certification of Thai jewellery and gemstones.
Jewellery and gemstones as the third industry in Thailand exports, generated 435 billion baht in exports and made up 6.3 percent of the country’s GDP in 2017. The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) will lead the BWC program. The launching of BWC program can boost the confidence of potential buyers and further promote Thailand’s position as a jewellery and gemstones hub. Among over 140 companies that have applied for membership, 68 of them received certificates yesterday. GIT aims to have 500 members and generates a 30 percent increase in sales, reaching 45 billion baht by 2018.
