Phillips’ Important Jewels and Jadeite auction fetched US$10,486,078 total sales in Hong Kong. A necklace-and-earring set adorned with fei cui and diamonds (photo 1) sold at US$2.5 million.
The lots included a 33.02 carats Burmese sapphire and diamond necklace (photo 2) by Van Cleef & Arpels hammered at US$548,082, a3.50 and 3.24 carats pair of Pigeon’s Blood Burmese ruby and diamond pendant earrings (photo 3), which sold for US$594,150.
“The results prove that the market for such jewels continues to be robust. After only two years of Phillips’ presence in the region, the increased sale percentage by lot demonstrates our sustained and steady growth; and expanding presence in the region,” commented Terry Chu, Phillips’ head of jewellery in Asia.
