Gem supplier Gemfields has announced record results of its Mozambican ruby auction in Singapore ended on 9 June.
The ruby auction fetched a total of US$71.8 million, an all-time auction record for the miner. Eighty-two lots or 95 percent of the 86 lots were sold, with an average price of US$122 per carat, a record for Gemfield’s mixed-quality ruby auction. Proceeds of the auction will be fully repatriated to Gemfields’ ruby mine in Mozambique, said the London-based company.
The 10th ruby auction was participated by 51 companies who bid for high, medium and commercial grade untreated rough rubies.
