Ye Zhibin, director of the National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC) and Wolfram Diener, senior vice president of UBM, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair media gathering: “NGTC will provide UBM technical and cultural assistance in the mainland jewellery exhibition market. We hope to become a strategic partner with NGTC and make good use of both parties’ resource advantages.” Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK), Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association (HKJMA) and Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) and other organisations gave speeches regarding the industry during the gathering. HKJJA president Ken Lo pointed out that the industry's performance in the first half year was satisfactory. Since China and the United States are in trade war, the industry should be prudently optimistic towards the second half of 2018.
