Sotheby’s displays items which will go under the hammer at its Hong Kong autumn sale of Important Watches and Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on 2 October and 3 October respectively. Over 400 contemporary and vintage timepieces from renowned brands including Patek Philippe, Rolex and Audemars Piguet and over 200 jewellery pieces from high jewellery retailers like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels to celebrated Asian contemporary designer, Wallace Chan, are highlighted in this sale.
The only known platinum Rolex Daytona powered by the Zenith El Primero movement with a mother-of-pearl dial (photo 1&2) is expected to fetch US$420,000 to US$767,000. The watch is believed to be one of the five El Primero-powered Daytonas in a platinum case. Four of them were given away to the former Rolex chief executive Patrick Heiniger’s relatives and friends.
Sotheby’s will bring a rock crystal choker, a gem-set and diamond ring and a pair of conch pearl, gem set and diamond pendent earrings (photo 3,4,5&6) designed by Hong Kong famed jewellery designer, Wallace Chan at its Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale. Highlighted lots of the sale included a 10 carats Sapphire, emerald and diamond clip brooch by Cartier (photo 7), a jadeite bead and diamond necklace (photo 8) and a pair of jadeite and diamond pendent earrings(photo 9 &10) with tremendous translucency and deep emerald green.
