French luxury goods conglomerate company Cartier has more than tripled the size of its flagship boutique in No 1 Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui of Hong Kong, unveiling a dazzling new design concept that is a synthesis between Chinese arts and Cartier savoir faire, between modernity and tradition.
Conceived by internationally-renowned interior designer Bruno Moinard, the refined store design is unique to Hong Kong, said the company. The external façade presents a soft and strong architecture to contrast with the teeming universe of the city around it, with an alliance of onyx, bronze and white marble effects adding preciousness and femininity.
Inside, the boutique has expanded from two to three floors, spanning a total of 982 square metres of exceptionally open, light and airy floorspace. The décor emphasises a subtle shade of champagne that exudes contemporary chic. Elements specific to Hong Kong include a bas-relief of Cartier’s iconic panther looking down from The Peak to Victoria Harbour, and bamboo patterning engraved on the golden stairwell walls.
The Peking Road boutique hosts an exclusive pre-launch of the smaller version of Cartier’s unisex and assertive Juste Un Clou bracelet in September, which revolutionised jewellery design when it was launched in the 1970s. Available in yellow or pink gold, the new model can be worn alone or alongside the original.
