Gemfields recovers a 5,655 carats emerald with ‘remarkable clarity and a perfectly balanced golden green hue’ named Inkalamu (lion in Zambian language) from its Kagem mine in Zambia earlier this month. International Gem Society said Inkalamu qualifies as the third largest green gemstone ever found. The giant gemstone will go under hammer at auction in Singapore in November. 10 percent of the proceeds of the sale of Inkalamu will be donated to the conservation partners the Zambian Carnivore Programme and the Niassa Carnivore Project, which focus on African carnivores conservation.
