Harry Winston acquired a18.96 carats pink diamond, Pink Legacy, for more than $50 million at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva on 13 November, achieved a world record for a pink diamond sold at auction. “This exceptional diamond captured the imagination of international collectors across the globe, with over 30,000 people visiting Christie’s sale previews to see this remarkable stone,” said Rahul Kadakia, Christie’s international head of jewellery. The sale garnered over US$110 million, nearly half of the sale belongs to the Pink Legacy. The stone has a prominent pedigree, descended from the Oppenheimer family, a South African family owned 40 percent of De Beers.
